the family drama stuff kinda works for the first half, then in the second half it's totally dead and you care for no-one (bit like myers). almost no scares in the first half, some decent moments in the second half. in a word; uneven. the acting is fine. loomis sucks and has some of the worst dialogue. he was silly in the original too, but here it's just totally incongruous. despite mcdowell's best efforts. sounds like the theatrical cut might be better in this regard, i read that most of his scenes that drag-on are removed there. it makes less sense for myers to be quite so invincible when... read more

halloween: resurrection came and went without much notice. it did poorly at the box office and was poorly received by critics and audiences alike. even though the ending left room for a sequel, the possibilities for a ninth halloween film were looking somewhat bleak. original films like the ring (although a remake) and 28 days later were fairing well at the box office and it seemed like the generic slasher film was coming to another end. but in august of 2003, freddy vs. jason was released and ate up box office receipts. it seemed like the sure fire way to make money and bring audiences back... read more

Мне кажется Зомби, слишком сильно в себя поверил как в режиссера, когда полез почти покадрово переснимать Карпентера. Потому что первый Хэллоуин работает, в первую очередь за счет режиссуры, а не сценария, который там весьма средний. Соответственно, ремейк в этом плане обосрался, когда решил смешать мтвшность и саспенс. Потому что абсолютно никакой атмосферы и напряжения в фильме нету. i think zombie did a good work in this movie, i think i can not compare to the classic halloween because they are way different, michael changed in here, i can not see the evil essence the pure evil , now i see a guy with psychological problems because he has a crazy family, i dont know but everytime i see michael stalking, is diffrerent, its more human. but its very good. its a different way to see michael myers. well in the end i recomend this because is a good movie. read more

Everything good about this movie is completely lifted from the original Carpenter movie. Everything bad about this movie is something Rob Zombie made up. I could write a lot more but this movie isn't worth it. read more

the origin story angle doesn't bother me as much as the size of the chunk of the movie dedicated to it.but anyhow it's an underrated (not by the people i follow here) remake. the very end take the cake for one of the best screams in horror. read more

2nd viewing after seeing it in a theater. Yeah it's pretty bad. After the crap that was Busta Rhymes in part 8 I see why I liked it more initially. Didn't age well. read more

I kinda like this interpretation of Michael Myers. Not really necessary to learn about Michael Myers' childhood (would've prefered if he had no real reason but interesting enough). Tyler Mane as Myers is a fucking beast, btw. The costume design of him is terrifying too. But in the end it's just a modernized version of the original film (+Myers' childhood). I did find the last act to drag a bit tho. read more

i liked this one more on this second watch, though i still have issues with it. though i fucking hate the way halloween ii and the sequels after tries to give michael a motivation, i actually dont mind it as much here. its meant to be something different, and i respect it for that reason. do i think michaels origin is interesting and benefits the character? absolutely not. its a bit dull, honestly. im not sure whether i like the first half more, where rob zombie does his own thing independent of the original, or the second half, where hes just hitting the same beats of the original with some... read more
