like the last two entries f8 is dumb as all hell, way over the top and a lot of fun. it's filled to the brim with stupid yet exceptional car stunts and charismatic characters that will have you laughing and cheering along as the stupidity rolls across the screen. is it a good movie? yeah sure. is it worthy of a billion dollar franchise? i think not. basically f8 is: as good as part 7: which wouldn't be as good if not for the death of paul walker and the touching ending because of it. better than 6: which was dumb but not that great because it followed... part 5: which is not only the best of... read more

some heavily exciting action sequences round out a wholly mediocre film. tyrese and theron were both very much underused. there wasn't much new to see from any of the characters except for statham. when it comes to vehicular action scenes, faf remains the gold standard, but between the lines it needs to be either ridiculously over the top or painfully real and "fate" finds itself bouncing back and forth in both tone and excitement. read more

some of the worst writing yet but geez you try justifying an eighth entry to this franchise without pulling some shit outta yer ass. the first half is pretty wonky and features a bunch of stupid, lazy exposition, but it gets real good once people start shutting up and where else are you gonna get this level of ridiculous excess in mainstream cinema? honestly i can't wait for them to shit the bed myself because that's where the real magic starts happening: when they get desperate. imo we're not there yet, but i feel like we're getting close. read more

it's obvious- painfully obvious even, precisely how far away from street racing the franchise has fully moved. there's nuclear submarine and the fate of the world hanging in the balance here- literally. the fate of the furious contends with all its blockbuster ilk, earning its seat at the table alongside not only the transformers and the avengers of the film world, but also maybe earning a nod or two from the aging expendables. after all, the cast assembled for this franchise bleeds nothing but testosterone and motor oil. we're lucky they're also charismatic and watchable as well. scott read more

It's probably more because I just came off night shifts and I'm tired than it actually being super emotional, but did I cry non-stop after Dom was reunited with his son? Yes I did. Not the best on the franchise (of which I've currently only seen up to here), but it's a fast and furious film... which means I had a lot of fun watching it. read more
