finally got around to this one. i've heard the 3-hour ultimate cut is really the only way to watch it. well, it's the only version that makes sense apparently. so, that's the one i went with and i'm mostly happy with my decision. i was entertained throughout but i think if it was a half-hour shorter it probably would have been a lot better. hmmm. wait a second. ah, oh well. as it stands it's a pretty good comic book movie with some issues but it's not insultingly bad like i was led to believe. it looked freaking amazing in 4k and made my sound system put in work. demo worthy for sure. read more

ultimate edition when i walked out of the theater, i knew i liked it. i enjoyed it but was very aware of its faults. however, the ultimate edition erased many of them for me. this is my second time watching the ue and i loved it even more than the first time.  does this get messier once we get deeper into the third act? yes. does the whole “martha” thing deserve to be mocked? you bet. but in this three hour version there is so much more to love.  in a world where morality is relative and good deeds are always questioned for motive, it is no wonder a messianic figure would be disheartened with... read more

the fights were cool. ben affleck portrayed batman well. hans zimmer delivered another strong soundtrack. that's about it for positives of this movie. here's what i did not like. jesse eisenberg is a great actor. but casting him as lex luthor was a huge mistake. i would have never imagined lex luthor be voiced by blue from rio. i'll admit, i'm not the biggest comic book fanatic, but i always thought luthor was supposed to be a more composed and collected character? eisenberg's version of him seemed too spazzy and sporadic, twitching his lips or doing some other tick with every line. this may... read more

zack snyder's latest superhero epic is probably one of the most interesting and thought provoking entries in the entire genre. yet, it's also deeply flawed. i'm remiss that i even have to mention it's flaws, because the ideas and concepts it explores are so much more interesting and deserving of discussion. what's equally intriguing is the backlash the movie received, not over it's structural missteps, which is often mentioned as a footnote, but the backlash it got over the tone and depiction of superman and batman. i can understand it... like one understands a mental illness, but that's all.... read more

Warum am Ende ein Riesen-CGI-Monster da rein musste, weiß ich auch nicht. Angeblich soll die ultimate Edition ja besser sein, weil anderes Pacing, aber die kenne ich noch nicht.
