quick hit: it's certainly not the disaster that the behind-the-scenes drama would have led you to believe; in fact, there's an inkling of something really good in jane got a gun. natalie portman, joel edgerton, ewan mcgregor and the rest of the cast do fine work and the first and third acts are decent to very good. it's the middle act where things get bogged badly down, and that throws a lot of the film badly off as a result. gavin oconnor does serviceable if not excellent work in the director's chair, leaving this as an uneven but watchable action-western. read more

After numerous cast changes and change of director with this troubled film it really showed. The performances weren't that convincing, action was pretty pedestrian, storyline has been done before. I usually don't mind a western occasionally but there are much better movies out there. Watchable but don't expect too much. read more
