evangelion 2.0 is a blur of emotions, a cacophony of the familiar and the unknown. this time the plot is based only loosely on the original series, but lifts and often recontextualizes key scenes and from the show into a narrow and briskly-paced conflict for affection. it's basically oedipus complex: the movie. the evas beckon shinji, who is unable to abandon his desperate and unhealthy search for validation. he cannot leave; he always crawls back to a life he has no control over. rei is the key here; anno plays up her role as a potential glue for shinji and gendo, and knowing her true read

the evangelion film that finally started doing what the movie series had promised, fixing the events of the original series. it is this movie that starts to veer away from the original series, and great as the series is, it is definitely for the better. add on to that the impressive animation and you've got yourself a great and pretty complete package. read

not even joking the amount of porno bait mommy titty shots girl character arches her back up into the camera hypersexualised 14 year old children is so distracting and honestly ruined a chunk of this movie for me
it's just so bizarre to me how asuka in particular is given way more room to shine in this one and has a really interesting stake in the story but her seemingly death scene is so undercut when you remember that 10 minutes ago they were shooting her with top down titty shots and having her new suit be see through but only on her ass and chest
like holy shit i dont understand how its... read
