Though Weird, Knuckles is a Good Mini-Series

Overall, my brother and I enjoyed the series. I'm not a fan of binging shows because I feel it takes away from my ability to process them overall, but we found ourselves hooked watching through the whole of it over the course of a night.

The story is pretty cheesy, and I'm not a huge fan of how Knuckles is written (feels like an archetype similar to Dave Bautista's portrayal of DRAX), but the show manages to have a relatively fun buddy cop type story, with some good humor that actually made me chuckle a bit.

There's a musical number that you just have to see to believe that I think is the highlight of the entire show, and I wish I was kidding. In fact, a lot of anecdotes from this show, were I to explain them, would sound like some insane fever dream from a deranged Sonic fan. I grew up with the Sonic games that take themselves seriously, complete with J-Rock soundtracks, and characters that oozed their "Too-Cool" attitudes, so seeing this iteration of the characters that doesn't take itself seriously just feels out of place in my head canon. Props to the creative leads for being bold and going in a weird... new direction. It kinda worked out, strangely. I would have enjoyed a little more action rather than silly but this is not bad.

I'd recommend this show to people who liked the other two Sonic movies. It's got a lot of similar undertones so that's a pretty safe bet. I'm not sure if I'd recommend it to a non-Sonic fan, even though the show does a pretty good job of making everything pretty independent of the films. I just know people like my wife wouldn't enjoy sitting though it (and she did not enjoy the first Sonic movie). Hopefully that's all informative for you! Thanks for reading.
