i'm quite a fan of classics and even though the matrix is not so old compared to other films, it is seen as an important film in cinema history. the beginning was rather impressive. trinity's cop chase was genius. and then neo's story... just great. the actress who plays trinity, carrie-anne moss, i knew about, by the way, from jessica jones, and it was strange to see her as a nice person instead of a strict lawyer. but after that, for the first 30 minutes, i lost interest. i even said i thought the matrix was stupid. the real world (the birth of neo, for example) were strange and unexpected. it took me a few days to get over everything and look beyond it, but then i understood everything much better and started enjoying myself. what the martrix is exactly is something that's hard to explain. on imdb i read that it was based on plato's allegory of the cave, and you know what that is, then you know what the matrix is. complicated, but logical. to save you time, let me explain what plato's theory is. plato thought that we (the common people) lived in a cave with a big fire behind us. the shadows created by this (and what we looked at) were our lives: shadows and echoes of reality. only if you could get away from it and turn to the fire would you live the real life. the matrix is the wall of the cave of shadows, where everything is fake. a more detailed explanation (if you want to go into more detail) can be read here. and so the matrix, which once began to become so weird and boring, began to become more fun and fun. why pictures of the film always contained people who 'flew' and floated in the air... i understood it all. the end was the best. my favorite scene is with trinity and neo, who enter the building and start shooting. all the debris that was caused by it... this piece is something i would never want to see in real life, but on film it was genius. what i still don't get are the sunglasses, but anyway, they're very cool for the time and make sure you see who the bad guys are right away. convenient, right? the matrix is a very philosophical film and will only be fun if you understand it, but that doesn't stop me from not recommending it. do you love science fiction, things that don't make sense at first sight but are and action? then this movie is for you.
