this is part 1 of my conservative movie double header saturday.. i'm here to drink beer and laugh and stuff. so, unto the movie... a mastermind hans gruber junior takes over a high school and shoots a bunch of kids. he wants to blow everybody up so he can be famous. so that's pretty fun and not in poor taste at all... however! there is also a young hero girl who has a lot of random scenes with her dead mom who just shows up out of nowhere. her mom talks to her aaaaaand like motivates her and stuff. for whatever reason, they just had to have a lot of that, to, i guess try and make you care about the character which is a thing they do in shitty movies.. like whoa! this character had a dead parent! it's important and impactful and emotional and it should resonate with you deeply! just kidding, there's no reason to care about her, but honestly the actress, isabela may, did a fantastic job with what she was given. that's probably the best thing i could say about this movie. thomas jane was fine too, i guess. he's her dad and is a veteran and really likes guns. so, yeah, if cliche driven die hard knock offs are your thing then it really isn't that bad, and i mean that sincerely. there's nothing wrong with enjoying a simple action thriller but maybe there is a problem when it's obviously very politically motivated and it's set in a high school. i don't think teachers should have guns so of course i'm going to hate this movie lol. in one scene a gunnless security guard (oh the horror!) pisses himself after being made fun of. it's supposed to be funny. the director wanted you to laugh at him alongside the school shooters and that's kind of a problem right? i admit i hated it before watching it but i think that's reasonable. at least i watched it. anyways, it's poopoo, but again the lead actress was quite good and by the end of the movie she becomes a legitimate murderer and that's kinda cool!
