We follow the story of a young boy named Izuku Midoriya who aspires to be a hero. With the sudden rise and appearance of quirks, 80% of the population dawning a quirk of some kind, it leaves the rest of the world quirk-less; a cruel fate that befalls Izuku. He takes notes on the very heroes he idolizes, and he imitates one such hero, All Might. His persistence eventually bears fruit as All Might, his very idol, chooses him as his successor to inherit his quirk. Izuku later enrolls into the prestigious UA High and we follow his journey throughout the hero training course as he learns what it means to be a true hero.
Animation: 8
Detailed
Best I can sum up is that the animation style is pretty flashy but isn't so over - the - top nor overly focused on the details of showcasing every quirk that it comes off as using the animation as a crutch. It's focused and utilized to leave you curious of how the future quirks will be portrayed yet still subtle enough that it flows and merges well with the plotline and characters.
Sound: 7
Fitting
Not much to be said here; OST is fitting and standard of most hero related media.
Character: 7
Likeable
The characters we're introduced to had pretty nice designs that made them stand out as memorable and also be likeable in their own ways. It was also very easy to bond and root for the main character, Midoriya, as his personality fits well with being able to easily pull off a basic likeable blossoming hero yet takes a more gentle and friendly approach to it as compared to the standard of making them already confident and bold enough. It felt like the audience could better relate to his shyer nature (or at least enjoy it) and further see his development as the season progress with his determination to want to achieve his goals and become stronger.
Enjoyment: 6
Satisfying
It starts out a bit slow during the base story introduction before it starts to gradually pick up, but it's rather charming and still managed to keep me engrossed long enough to finish the season and be interested in what the second season has to offer!
[MHA: Hero Notebook (Recap)] ~~ Rating: 10 stars
Synopsis:A recap that aired a week before the second season's release.
Review: I like the approach that they took by making the recap more than just a narrator telling the viewer what happened in a previous season, but instead made it feel personal as if we were inside of Midoriya's mind to hear his thoughts or as if he was speaking directly to us about the experiences he went through. I also loved that they covered many important main events that occurred and were plot relevant so even if someone hadn't necessarily seen the first season (or if it's been awhile since they watched it such as myself) they could still follow along smoothly and get a basic understanding of the 5W&H (Who, What, When, Where, Why and How) to gather enough info that they'd need for understanding the plot. The execution stayed true to the personality and energy that the series gives its viewers and it's little details like these that I appreciate to see often.
